The correct installation method of Y-type strainer is of great significance to its normal use and maintenance. Only by strictly following the correct operation steps and precautions in the installation process can the use effect and service life of the Y-type strainer be ensured.

                                    Y-type Strainer Installation Methods and Instructions for Use

    1、Y-type strainer working principle

    Y-type strainer is an indispensable filtering device in the pipeline system for conveying fluid media. Y-type strainer is usually installed at the inlet end of pressure reducing valves, pressure relief valves, globe valves or other equipment, which is used for removing impurities in the media to protect the valves and equipment. Y-type strainer is advanced in structure, with small resistance and convenient for discharging.

    Y-type strainer is mainly composed of receiver, main pipe, screen, flange, flange cover and fasteners. When the liquid enters the screen through the main pipe, the solid impurity particles are blocked in the screen, while the clean fluid passes through the screen and is discharged from the filter outlet. The reason why the screen is made in the shape of a cylindrical filter basket is to increase its strength, which is stronger than a single-layer net, and the flange cover at the lower end of the Y-shaped interface can be unscrewed to remove the particles of impurities deposited in the filter basket on a regular basis.

    2、The installation steps and methods of Y-type strainer

    (1) Determine the installation location

    When installing the Y-type strainer, it is first necessary to determine the installation location according to the actual use requirements. Usually, the Y-type strainer should be installed at the inlet of the outlet pipe of the pump to ensure the effectiveness of water filtration and the protection of pipeline equipment. the Y-type strainer can be installed horizontally and vertically, and the direction of the water flow in the system should be the same as the direction of the arrows on the valve body during the installation.

     (2) Cleaning of pipes

    Before installing the Y-type strainer, the inside of the pipe needs to be thoroughly cleaned to ensure that it is free of impurities and dirt. This is conducive to the normal use of the Y-type strainer and prevents impurities from clogging the filter and affecting the filtration effect.

    (3) Installation of sealing gasket

   At the interface of the installed Y-type strainer, a sealing gasket needs to be applied to prevent leakage and loosening. This step is very important, and the installation quality of the sealing gasket is directly related to the use effect and stability of the Y-type strainer.

     (4) Installation of Y-type strainer

    Match the connection port of the Y-filter with the pipe port, and then use screws to fix it on the pipe. It should be noted that the screws should be tightened moderately, too tight is easy to damage the connection port of the Y-type strainer, too loose may lead to water leakage.

    3、 Installation of filters

    (1) Checking the filters

   Before installing the filter, you need to check the surface of the filter for any visible damage or impurities. If there is, the filter needs to be cleaned or replaced in a timely manner to ensure that it is in good condition.

    (2) Installation of filters

   Place the strainer inside the Y-type strainer, making sure that it fits tightly against the inner wall without leaving any gaps. Then, according to the instructions for using the Y-type strainer, put the connecting cover on and secure it with screws.

     4、Precautions for installation and maintenance of Y-type strainer

    Before installing the strainer, carefully clean the threaded connection surfaces of all piping and use the proper amount of pipe sealant or Teflon tape (PTFE). Leave the end threads untreated to avoid allowing sealant or Teflon tape to enter the piping system. The strainer can be installed horizontally or vertically. After a period of initial system operation (generally no more than one week), the system should be cleaned to remove any impurity dirt that has accumulated on the filter during initial system operation. Thereafter, it must be cleaned regularly. The frequency of cleaning depends on the working conditions. If the strainer is not equipped with a drain plug, the screen limiter as well as the screen should be removed when cleaning the strainer. Before each maintenance and cleaning, the strainer should be isolated from the pressurized system. After cleaning, use a new gasket when reinstalling.
