In terms of temperature factors, high temperature conditions are one of the common reasons that prompt valves to adopt extended stems. When the medium temperature is extremely high, heat will be rapidly transferred along the valve stem. If the length of the stem is insufficient, the heat may be conducted to the operating end of the valve, resulting in overheating of the operating parts, which may not only affect the comfort and safety of operation, but also cause damage to the actuator or control components connected to the stem, reducing its performance and life. By increasing the length of the heat transfer path, the extension stem effectively blocks the transfer of high temperatures to the operating end, providing safety for the operator and protecting the normal operation of the associated control equipment.
In terms of spatial layout, some valves may be installed in special locations. For example, they are located in deeply buried pipelines, at the bottom of large storage tanks or in narrow and inaccessible spaces. In this case, a regular length stem is not sufficient for operation. Extended stem can extend the operating handle or actuator connection point to a more accessible position, so that the operator does not need to enter a dangerous or inconvenient area to open and close the valve and adjust the operation, greatly improving the convenience of operation and operability.
For the working environment with strong corrosive media, the valve stem is susceptible to corrosion in direct contact with the media. If the corrosion spreads to the operating end, it will seriously affect the normal use of the valve and sealing performance. Extended stem can be placed outside the operating end of the corrosion area, reduce corrosion on the operating mechanism of the erosion, thereby extending the overall service life of the valve, reducing maintenance costs and the risk of production interruption due to valve failure.
In systems for automation and remote control, extension bars provide ample space for the installation of a wide range of sophisticated control devices. Examples include position sensors, electric or pneumatic actuators, and intelligent positioners. These devices require sufficient mounting space to accurately sense the position and status of valves and to enable precise control strategies. The extension bar enables these devices to be reasonably laid out to ensure the accurate transmission and execution of control signals and to improve the automation and control accuracy of the system.
Under special working conditions such as high pressure or high vacuum, the pressure difference inside the valve will produce a large force on the valve stem. Shorter stems may be deformed or unstable under such pressure, thus affecting the sealing performance and adjustment accuracy of the valve. By increasing the length and stiffness of the valve stem, the extension stem can better resist the influence of the pressure difference, ensure that the valve maintains stable and reliable operation under extreme working conditions, and safeguard the safety and continuity of the entire process.
