How to correctly store and maintain different materials of the valve?

Valves made of different materials due to their different chemical and physical properties, storage and maintenance methods are also different, the following are some of the common materials of valves correct storage and maintenance points:

一、Cast iron valves

1、Storage points

Environmental requirements:It should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated indoor environment, avoid open-air storage to prevent rain, moisture and other erosion leading to rust. The ground is best laid on wooden boards or take moisture-proof measures to prevent the valve from direct contact with the wet ground.

Placement: Valves should be neatly placed to avoid mutual extrusion or collision to prevent damage to the valve body and sealing surface. For larger valves, supports or cushion wood can be used to keep them stable.

2、Maintenance points

Regular inspection: check the appearance of the valve every once in a while to see whether there is rust, paint flaking and so on. If there is rust, rust should be removed in time and make up the paint, you can use wire brushes and other tools to remove the rust, and then painted with antirust paint.

Lubrication of movable parts: Regular lubrication of the valve stem, handwheel and other movable parts of the valve, you can use lubricating oil or grease, to prevent parts from rusting and jamming, to ensure that the valve operates flexibly.

二、Carbon steel valve

1、Storage points

Protection: before storage, the valve internal and external surfaces should be cleaned up, no oil, impurities, etc., and then can be coated with anti-rust oil for protection, especially the valve threads, sealing surfaces and other parts of the valve, to ensure that the anti-rust oil is coated evenly.

Packaging protection: For small carbon steel valves, plastic bags or moisture-proof paper can be used for packaging to prevent dust and moisture intrusion. Large valves can be covered with canvas, etc., to provide a certain degree of protection.

2、Maintenance points

Surface cleaning: The surface of the valve should be cleaned regularly during use to remove dirt and impurities and prevent their accumulation leading to corrosion. Can be wiped with a damp cloth, for stubborn stains, you can use a mild detergent, but avoid the use of cleaning agents containing corrosive ingredients.

Anti-corrosion measures: According to the use of the environment, regular anti-corrosion treatment of the valve, such as supplemental anti-corrosion paint. In the piping system with corrosive media, consider taking additional anti-corrosion measures for the valve, such as installing anti-corrosion lining.

三、Stainless steel valve

1, storage points

Avoid contamination: stainless steel valves should be stored in a clean, dry environment, avoiding storage with items containing corrosive substances such as chloride ions to prevent pitting and other corrosion phenomena.

Separate storage: try to avoid mixing with carbon steel and other materials such as valves, to prevent carbon steel rust on stainless steel valves caused by pollution and electrochemical corrosion.

2、Maintenance points

Regular cleaning: clean the valve in time after use to remove surface dirt, media residue, etc. You can use water or neutral detergent to rinse, and then dry with a clean cloth.

Check the sealing performance: regularly check the sealing performance of the valve, such as found that the seal is not tight, should be replaced in a timely manner seals. For long-term use of the valve, pay attention to observe whether the sealing surface wear, scratches, etc., if necessary, should be repaired or replaced.

四、Copper alloy valves

1、Storage points

Antioxidant: copper alloy valves should be stored to prevent oxidation and discoloration, can be sealed packaging or placed in a dry nitrogen environment. If there is a protective coating on the surface of the valve, make sure the coating is intact.

Temperature control: avoid storage in high temperature, humidity or corrosive gases in the environment, storage temperature is best kept between 15 ℃ and 35 ℃, relative humidity does not exceed 60%.

2、Maintenance points

Surface treatment: If the surface of the valve appears oxidation discoloration or slight corrosion, you can use special copper cleaner or polishing paste for treatment to restore its surface luster. A small amount of protective oil can be applied after treatment for protection.

Avoid collision: copper alloy valves are relatively soft, in the handling and use of the process to avoid collision with hard objects, to prevent deformation or damage to the valve body, affecting its sealing performance and service life.
