Eccentric half-ball valve and the difference between the V-ball valve

(Note: for the global body V-ball valve is not in this paper analysis, this paper is only on the commonly used hemispherical V-ball valve.)

Eccentric hemispherical valves focus on eccentricity. That is, there is a dimensional eccentricity between the spool and the centre line of the hemisphere. This eccentricity makes the contact between the spool and the valve seat exist very short, only at the moment of closing and opening the valve contact exists. Reduces the wear and tear of the spool and seat. Prolongs the service life of the valve.

The spool of V-ball valve also adopts hemispherical structure, the key point is that there is a V-port on the spool, through which a smaller flow rate can be controlled, and at the same time, its flow capacity is larger than that of general regulating valves. So its adjustable ratio is far more than ordinary control valve. However, the sealing surface of the spool and the seat of the V-ball valve are always in close contact. Valve shaft and hemisphere body centre line is in the centre line of the flow path, there is no eccentric structure.

Similarity:

1. Both are hemispherical structure ball core, effectively preventing the medium from blocking the inside of the valve body, suitable for media containing fibres and particles.

2. Both are fixed ball mode, the ball core is fixed.

3. Both can be flanged or clamped connection.

Difference:

1. The spool is different, the ball surface of the eccentric half ball valve is not open V-port. The ball surface of the V-type ball valve is open V-port, the V-port can get smaller flow control, while bringing better shear capacity, suitable for the media containing fibres.

2. Large diameter eccentric semi-ball valve sphere sealing surface can be replaced separately, easy maintenance, cost savings. v-ball valve sphere sealing surface and sphere core as a whole, repair requires the overall replacement of the hemispherical core.

3. Eccentric semi-ball valves are mostly used for switching control. V-ball valves are mostly used for regulating control, and can be adjusted to a large ratio of up to 100:1 or higher, much higher than the ordinary regulating valve 30:1.

4. Eccentric semi-ball valves can be used for large calibre products of DN2000 or more. V-ball valves are generally DN500 or less.

5. Eccentric half ball valve with side or top mounted structure. v-ball valve is more side mounted structure.

6. Eccentric semi-ball valves are suitable for frequent opening and closing and sealing requirements of high occasions, such as heat, water supply and other fields; V-ball valves are suitable for precise adjustment of the flow rate and fluid accuracy of high occasions, such as chemical industry, petroleum, pharmaceuticals and other fields.
