The gate valve guiding device can prevent the gate disc from rotating or being displaced a lot when opening or closing, so as to ensure that the sealing surface is aligned accordingly and the gate disc does not rub against the valve seat before it reaches the closed position, thus reducing the wear of the sealing surface.

The Guiding Device for Wedge Gate Valves

The wedge gate valve guiding device usually consists of a valve body guiding rib and a gate disc guiding groove, as shown in the figure below.

It can prevent the gate disc from rotating or being displaced a lot when opening or closing, so as to ensure that the sealing surface is aligned accordingly and the gate disc does not rub against the valve seat before it reaches the closed position, thus reducing the wear of the sealing surface.

Valve body guiding rib is generally cast directly on the valve body, the location of the special nature of its processing is more troublesome, so some manufacturers do not process it, only the processing of the gate disc guiding groove, control the gate disc guiding groove and the valve body guiding rib transverse clearance a and longitudinal clearance b, the gap a, b reserved too large will have a serious impact on the sealing performance of the valve should be taken into account. When the valve is installed in the vertical pipeline, the medium flow direction from top to bottom, the gate disc due to self-weight against the export sealing end, at this time, such as a size gap is too large, open and close the valve, the export end of the sealing surface of the gate disc and the valve seat sealing surface is always friction, easy to cause the export end of the sealing side of the serious wear and tear. When the valve is installed horizontally in the horizontal pipeline, the gate disc leans to the bottom guiding rib due to self-weight, and there is a 2 times gap b at the top. If the design is not appropriate, the gap b reserved is too large, resulting in the outer end of the guiding groove at the top of the gate disc is lower than the top guiding rib of the valve body, then it is easy to cause the gate disc to fall off and be stuck in the valve body.

The length of the valve body guiding rib should not be too short, and should be able to ensure that the gate disc is fully supported during the opening and closing of the valve, as shown in the figure below.

Prevent the gate disc from deviating from the sealing surface, as well as due to the length of the fit is too short, resulting in the gate guiding groove and body guiding rib misalignment, so that the valve cannot be opened and closed properly. In general, when the gate is in the open/close position, the minimum length of fit between the body guide rib and the gate disc guide groove should be not less than 1/2 of the total length of the gate guide groove.
