Ten Key Maintenance Measures for High-Temperature, High-Pressure Check Valves

1. Lubricate using grease. The grease must be compatible with the metal materials, rubber components, plastic parts, and working medium of the high-temperature, high-pressure valve. When the working medium is gas, grease such as Te 221 may be used. Apply grease to the surface of the seal installation groove, coat the rubber seal with grease, and apply a layer of grease to the sealing surface and friction surfaces of the valve stem.

2. During disassembly and reassembly, take care to prevent damage to the sealing surfaces of components, particularly non-metallic parts. When removing O-rings, it is advisable to use specialised tools.

3. New components must also be thoroughly cleaned prior to assembly.

4. Cleaning agents must be compatible with all rubber components, plastic parts, metal fittings, and working media (e.g., gas) within high-temperature, high-pressure valves. When the working medium is gas, petrol (GB484-89) may be used to clean metal components. Non-metallic parts should be cleaned with purified water or alcohol.

5. During assembly, it shall not be permissible for metal filings, fibres, grease (except where specifically permitted), dust, or other contaminants, foreign matter, etc., to contaminate, adhere to, or remain on component surfaces or enter internal cavities.

6. Individual components that have been disassembled may be cleaned by immersion. Metal parts retaining non-metallic components that have not been disassembled may be wiped with a clean, fine-textured silk cloth impregnated with cleaning agent (to prevent fibres adhering to the components). During cleaning, all grease, grime, accumulated adhesive residue, dust, and similar contaminants adhering to the surfaces must be removed.

7. Non-metallic components should be removed from the cleaning solution immediately after cleaning and must not be left soaking for extended periods.

8. When assembling, bolts on the flange must be tightened symmetrically, progressively and evenly.

9. After cleaning, allow the cleaning agent to evaporate from the washed surfaces (a silk cloth not soaked in cleaning agent may be used for wiping) before reassembly. Prolonged exposure may result in rust formation and contamination by dust.

10. Before undertaking any dismantling operations on high-temperature, high-pressure valves, it must first be ascertained that the upstream and downstream pipelines have been fully depressurised.
