What is the difference between a straight stroke electric actuator and an angle stroke electric actuator?
The main differences between straight stroke and angle stroke electric actuators are as follows:
1.running type
Direct stroke electric actuator: Through the motor drive screw, gear and other transmission mechanism, the rotary motion of the motor is converted into linear motion, so that the output rod of the actuator does linear reciprocating motion.
Angular stroke electric actuator: the motor drives the output shaft through the reduction gear to do rotary motion, the rotation angle is generally between 0-90°, and some of them can reach 180° or a larger angle.
2.Applicable valve type
Straight stroke electric actuator: commonly used in gate valves, globe valves, diaphragm valves, etc., these valves through the straight-line movement of the valve stem to realize the opening and closing of the valve, in order to control the medium on and off or the size of the flow.
Angle stroke electric actuator: mainly applicable to ball valves, butterfly valves, plug valves, etc., such valves through the rotation of the spool to change the opening of the valve, so as to adjust the flow of the medium, pressure and other parameters.
3.Output Force & Torque
Straight stroke electric actuator: the output is linear thrust, the size of which depends on the motor power, the reduction ratio of the transmission mechanism and other factors, used to overcome the friction when the valve closes or opens, medium pressure, etc..
Angle stroke electric actuator: the output is torque, used to drive the valve spool rotation, the size of the torque is also related to the motor power, deceleration device, need to meet the requirements of overcoming the valve rotation resistance torque.
4.Control accuracy
Straight stroke electric actuator: Because of its relatively simple transmission mechanism, and the position detection of linear motion is easier to achieve high precision, so in some of the flow control of high precision requirements of the occasion, such as the chemical process of accurate measurement, etc., straight stroke electric actuator can better meet the requirements.
Angle stroke electric actuator: Although its control accuracy can also meet the needs of most industrial occasions, due to the relative complexity of the mechanical structure of the rotary motion and the position detection method, its control accuracy may be slightly lower than that of the straight stroke electric actuator under the same conditions. However, with the development of technology, the control accuracy of angle stroke electric actuators is also improving.
5.Installation space
Straight stroke electric actuator: generally need a larger axial installation space, because its output rod to do linear movement, to ensure that the output rod has enough travel to achieve the full opening and closing of the valve.
Angle stroke electric actuator: mainly occupies the radial installation space, the axial space requirements are relatively small, especially for the installation of space is more compact occasions, such as some of the pipeline dense area or small equipment in the valve control.
