Feature:

The butterfly valve with bypass is based on the double eccentric valve，the designer changes the series 14 to F5 and add the bypass valve on the body. It consists of the main valve，the integral bypass pipe and bypass valve.

Butterfly valves are fitted with bypass valves mainly to avoid damage to the main valve transmission and sealing parts due to excessive opening torque caused by high pressure before and after the valve when the main valve is opened during operation.

So the bypass valve can be opened before the main valve is opened. Reducing the pressure in front of the valve so that the difference between the pressure after the valve and the pressure in front of the valve is reduced, reducing the torque when opening the main valve，that will make it easy to open the main valve and extend the life of the main valve. Similarly, when closing, close the main valve first, then close the bypass valve.

Key Considerations for Selection

(1) Nominal diameter selection: Typically 1/4 to 1/8 of the main valve's diameter;

(2) Pressure Rating: Consistent with the Main Valve's Nominal Pressure (PN);

(3) Installation Position: Adjacent to the main valve for ease of operation and interlocking,

Bypass valves are typically installed on either side of the main valve, connected to the upstream and downstream pipelines via short pipes. The following requirements must be met:

- The centreline of the bypass valve shall be parallel to that of the main valve to minimise pipeline resistance;

- Sufficient operating space shall be reserved near the bypass valve to facilitate manual or electric operation;

- Where the main valve incorporates an electric actuator, the bypass valve may be interlocked with the main valve actuator (via a PLC control system) to achieve automated operation sequences such as ‘open bypass first, then main valve’ and ‘close main valve first, then bypass valve’, thereby enhancing intelligent functionality.
